"Options spent 18 months researching EMR vendors being careful to consider a number of factors before selecting CAM from Celerity. We considered Addiction/Mental Health specific, clinical record and billing system all-in-one, company background and the unique relationship centered approach that Celerity provided. Many vendors did not fully understand behavioral health medicine and were more physician based. We also appreciated the fact that Celerity would be customizing the application according to our specific needs. The "deal maker" was when Peter Labaki, President, and Jonathan Strange, Clinical Director, personally came to visit us at our clinic to meet us.

The clinical aspect of Celerity's CAM has realized significant time savings for our clinicians for Initial Evaluations, Progress Notes/Group Notes, and Treatment Planning. Clinicians report that CAM has reduced their paperwork by 50%, allowing more time for patient appointments.

We have already experienced a reduction in paper, file storage, etc. We anticipate a cost savings in the reduction of hiring future clerical staff. The percentage of reduction at this time is 25%, and we anticipate further reduction once completely paperless.

One of the main benefits of CAM has been the reduced stress level for our clinicians. Morale appears higher, energy level of staff is better, and the overall consensus from clinicians is to never utilize paper charts again! Having a live Celerity help desk for CAM questions has been very appreciative. We have utilized other programs where there was not a live support staff and it makes it difficult when issues arise.

"At Syracuse Behavioral Health [SBH] we considered many factors such as price, ability to customize the program for our needs and the willingness to work with our agency staff, before selecting CAM from Celerity.

CAM has saved us costs specifically with labor, time and supplies (paper) and we will, as time progresses, be able to quote specific figures. CAM has allowed us to realize an appreciable reduction in paperwork charting time of 20-30%. "We were committed to making this transition a positive one and the staff at Celerity worked tirelessly to get us on board utilizing all aspects of CAM within the clinical chart and scheduler modules. We have not looked back since! We now maintain all records on the computer and do not print charts unnecessarily.

We expended a substantial amount of money several years prior to selecting CAM on a computer EMR system. It was highly recommended by several agencies and the state. It turned out to be a program built for us by a psychiatrist dealing with mental illness. We were not able to tailor this program to our needs and found it very cumbersome. We finally decided to try a new program but this time we knew what we wanted; Flexibility, Reliability, Ease of Use, Substance Abuse Focused, Affordable, and the Ability to be modified to our needs. Celerity’s CAM was the only one outside of building our own program that was able to give us exactly what we wanted.

We estimate that implementing CAM has saved us an estimated $10,000 annually in office expenses without even considering the time savings factor. Although the staff is not yet willing to comment on the percentage of time reduction in charting, I am seeing it with their ability to be more time productive. Reduced time required for case notes, and paperwork allows for more training and regular communication with mandating agencies. Realizing more clinical supervision and less administrative supervision is a direct result of implementing CAM. CAM has simplified procedures for the counselors to do their work and spend more time with the patients rather than spending time fixing their paperwork. As we know this field is more about the documentation than the actual interactions with the patients. We have been able to change that with the CAM system. We are now able to then spend more time using and learning about our skills rather than if a date and time is documented correctly with the proper signature and credentials.

CAM has also allowed us to realize a better retention rate and we are able to engage the patient more. Our business is not as cut and dry as percentages. However being able to take more time to engage a patient and build their trust they are more apt to stay and utilize our services. We are less about the paperwork and more about patient care and in the end that benefits the patients and helps them on the journey to recovery.

In customizing CAM for our needs, Celerity worked with our technical support team making CAM ready for any future audit. We were then able to easily go through an audit and receive the highest of marks. The auditors were having difficulty finding errors and commended us on our work. That is the best return on investment we could have hoped for.

CAM has made it easier on the supervisors and staff to make sure that all the proper paperwork is complete and therefore allowing us to perform so well on our audit. We have been able to change the environment from a relationship with the documentation of a patient to the relationship with the patient, which then leads to a more professional and valuable service provided.

One of the key successes realized by CAM is that it is tailored and made for our needs as a substance abuse agency. There are so few programs out there if any, that are for substance abuse agencies. It allowed us to have exactly what we needed."
